Ambrosia Software on Thursday announced the release of Dragster, a new Mac OS X utility designed to simplify file transfers. It costs $19.
Using an icon that sits in your Dock, Dragster enables you to drag and drop files to locations you want to send them. You can use Dragster to transfer files via e-mail, to a remote server, iDisk, or specific locations on your local drive. You can set up as many “shortcuts” as you need.
Dragster also provides contextual menu support, so you can control-click (or right-click) to send a file in any program. Dragster even supports Bonjour, Apple’s zero-configuration networking technology.
Dragster supports FTP, SFTP, SCP, SMB and AFP file transfer protocols, but it helps to take the guesswork out of setting up the connection by offering a “Best Available” option that figures that stuff out for you. Dragster also features a file browser, and optimizes upload speed especially for repetitive file transfers.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.4 or later; Dragster runs as a Universal binary, native for PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs.
