Taking a cue from the (PRODUCT) RED project — the initiative to raise awareness and money for African AIDS research and treatment that Apple’s involved in — MacMice unveiled its red Danger Mouse and GarageKey MIDI keyboard. Instead of African AIDS relief, funds are going to help African orphans.
Outside of the red exteriors, the devices work the same as their non-red counterparts: The $29.99 Danger Mouse is a 1600 dot per inch (DPI)-resolution optical mouse equipped with multiple buttons and the “MicroScroll” scroll wheel. The $99.99 GarageKey is a 37-key USB-based MIDI keyboard with octave up/down buttons.
Three dollars from the sale of each Danger Mouse Red goes to the Peace Village School & Orphanage in Ukunda, Kenya, according to MacMice. Ten dollars from each GarageKey Red goes to the school.
