SubRosaSoft.com on Tuesday introduced VolumeWorks v1.5, a new version of its Mac OS X disk utility software that now supports Intel-based macs. VolumeWorks costs $49.95 for download or $59.95 for a bootable CD.
VolumeWorks features on-the-fly partition resizing, volume testing and repair, support for Serial ATA (SATA), ATA, FireWire and USB drives, the ability to hide partitions, custom icon support, partition moving and partition map reconstruction and more.
Now optimized for Intel Macs and available as a Universal binary, VolumeWorks also features partition format support for Intel Macs. The Rebuild feature can convert a drive’s partition map between PDISK — used by older PowerPC-based systems, and GUID, favored by new Intel Macs.
The CD-ROM that VolumeWorks is available on is a “dual-boot” version that works with PowerPC and Intel Macs alike; it supports most Macs ranging from the G4 to the Mac Pro, according to SubRosaSoft.com.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3 or later. VolumeWorks 1.0 to 1.3 users are entitled to a free upgrade.
