SubRosaSoft.com on Wednesday announced the release of CopyCatX v4.0, a new version of its hard drive duplication and recovery software for Mac OS X. It costst $49.95 for the download and $59.95 for the CD;u upgrades start at $19.95.
CopyCatX works using sector copying instead of the “file-by-file” method used by some backup software. It creates an exact copy of your Mac’s hard drive, iPod or Mac OS X startup drive. You can clone multiple targets, recover drives and CDs or DVDs using a resumable system, and restore permissions, icons, placement, hidden files and content. And because it’s sector-based, it’s not operating system or file dependent, so it can also copy Linux, Windows and TiVo drives.
New to this release is a Universal binary that enables CopyCat X to run natively on Intel and PowerPC-based Macs. SubRosaSoft.com has also optimized code to run faster. And it’s on a dual-boot CD, so it’ll run on both Intel and PowerPC-based Macs.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3 or later.
