Trans Intl on Friday introduced its Minixpress portable FireWire hard disk drive. The drive enclosure includes one FireWire 400 port, one USB 2.0 port, and two FireWire 800 ports. It starts at $99.
Made of aluminum, the chassis is equipped with an anti-shock mechanism and connect to the drive mechanism itself using Oxford Semiconductor’s 924DSB bridge chip set. The enclosure is designed to accommodate a 9.5mm Serial ATA (SATA)-based hard drive.
Trans offers the bare enclosure for $99, and will populate it with drives from 100GB to 200GB in capacity for $189 to $369 depending on speed and capacity. Also included is a power adapter.
