Parliant on Monday announced that it’s shipping PhoneValet Message Center 5.0, a new version of its Mac OS X-based telephony product for small office, home and home office environments. PhoneValet 5 costs $169.95, and upgrades are available for users of previous versions. That price includes a USB telephone adapter.
PhoneValet installs on a Mac and works using a USB-based interface that plugs into your phone line. It turns your Mac into a “virtual call center” with voice mail boxes, call blocking capabilities, recording, logging and screening, automated dial and “Interactive Voice Response” (IVR) capabilities on one or more lines.
PhoneValet 5 features a streamlined interface and includes Call Completion Technology (CCT). This new system enables the Mac to direct an incoming caller to a person or department, playing music or audio during the transfer, then directs the caller to voice mail or other options if the call can’t be answered.
PhoneValet 5 requires Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, QuickTime 6.5 or later and the telephone adapter. It is a Universal binary.
