Iomega on Tuesday introduced new additions to its StorCenter line of Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices, aimed at small and medium business networks. Capacities range from 500GB to 1.5 terabytes (TB), with prices from $1,399 to $3,999 depending on capacity and features.
all of the new StorCenter Pro NAS 250d servers features Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003 R2, and are compatible with Mac OS X v10.2.7 or later, Windows and Linux client systems.
The servers sport hot-swappable Serial ATA (SATA) II hard disk drive mechanisms. The 500GB model also includes a built-in Iomega Rev 70GB drive for backup.
The top system in the new lineup — the 1.5TB model — features three 500GB 7200RPM drive mechanisms and hardware-based RAID Level 0, 1 and 5 support. The 750GB model uses three 250GB drives instead, and also supports hardware-based RAID Level 0, 1 and 5. The 500GB models include two 250GB drive mechanisms and support RAID Level 0 and 1 instead. The 750GB and 1.5TB models also have dual Gigabit Ethernet connections with automatic load balancing and an external Ultra 320 SCSI connection.
Print server software is included on some models, and all servers include ARCserve backup software and EMC Retrospect Express.
