Aspyr Media announced Wednesday plans to release a Macintosh conversion of the first person shooter Prey in January, 2007. The game is currently in development for the Mac internally at Aspyr Studios.
Originally developed by Human Head Studios and published for the PC by 2K Games, Prey follows the story of Tommy, a Cherokee garage mechanic whose life changes when he’s abducted by aliens, along with his people — awakening long-dormant spiritual powers as he tries to save his girlfriend, and ultimately, the entire Earth.
Features of Prey include “gravity flipping,” the ability to traverse walls, “death walking,” which allows Tommy to regain health and spirit energy before returning to his body, “spirit mode,” portals that materialize enemies out of thin air, and multiplayer support.
Aspyr Media has not yet announced Prey’s minimum system requirements — the company routinely does so within a few weeks of a new product’s release, so look for that soon.
