Ambrosia Software has announced the release of SketchFighter 4000 Alpha, an arcade-style action game with a visual twist. It’s available for download now and costs $19 to register.
SketchFighter puts you in the cockpit of a spacecraft as you navigate twisting caverns and passages rife with enemy cannon, spacecraft, creepy crawlies and other things out to get you. You can power up your weapons as you blast the bad guys to smithereens and square off against huge bosses.
Sound like pretty standard arcade fare so far? SketchFighter 4000 Alpha veers in a totally unique direction by using a design sensibility that’s straight out of middle school — it looks like it was drawn by a daydreaming student using graph paper and a felt pen.
The game features Internet and local-based two player competitive and cooperative game play and its own built-in game finding and chat service, so you can find other players to play with. And when you’re done with what’s included, a level editor will let you craft your own scenarios.
SketchFighter requires Mac OS X v10.2.8 or later, and is a Universal binary that runs natively on Intel and PowerPC-based Macs.
