QuickerTek on Monday noted its Quicky USB transceiver now works with Apple iBook laptops. The Quicky plugs into an available USB port and improves the wireless networking range of the host computer by up to 100 percent, according to the company. It costs $225.
The Quicky can temporary clip to the top of an open iBook; it’s a combination USB-based wireless networking transceiver and external antenna. The combination provides 10 times more Radio Frequency (RF) power output than the stock antenna inside the iBook, which provides the ability to work at greater operating distances than the stock iBook can manage.
The Quicky works with all 802.11b and 802.11g Wi-Fi equipment including AirPort and AirPort Extreme base stations, and requires no software drivers to operate. It works with PowerBooks, MacBook Pros, MacBooks and now iBooks.
