Bare Bones Software on Monday released
BBEdit 8.5.2, a maintenance update to its popular HTML and text editor for the Macintosh. BBEdit costs $125, though
the update is free for registered users of 8.x.
BBEdit provides grep pattern matching, search and replace across multiple files, function navigation and syntax coloring for various source code languages, FTP and SFTP support, AppleScript and Unix scripting support and a complete set of HTML tools among myriad other features.
New to this release are descriptive summary strings for the Tidy and reformat text factories, and named conditionals for PCRE pattern matching. The four separate language options and their corresponding sheets in the Languages preference panel have been collapsed, and BBEdit now presents you with a dialog that lets you choose sources and configure other options from the Text Factory menu. Dozens of bug fixes have been made as well.
