We’re a bit late with this announcement, but MacSoft has announced that its real time strategy game Age of Empires III is now available at retail stores. Age of Empires III costs $49.95.
Age of Empires III brings you back to the Age of Discovery as you join European explorers who are staking claims in the New World. You navigate naval fleets, build cities and forge an empire, establishing alliances with local natives as you combat your enemies and build a thriving colony.
Features include the ability to raise armies of varied unites such as infantry, cavalry, artillery, mercenaries and ships. A real-time physics engine lets you observe as cannonballs obliterate their targets and individual soldiers fall like rag dolls.
Age of Empires III features both single player and online gaming modes, and lets you play in a Campaign style as you help Morgan Black and his descendants explore the New World, or play out scenarios like the Aztecs repelling Spanish conquistadors, pit the French against the British or help Simon Bolivar lead revolutions in South America.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, a G4, G5 or Intel processor (it’s a Universal binary), 512MB RAM, 64MB graphics card, DVD drive and LAN or Internet access for online play.
