IDG World Expo on Thursday offered details on this year’s Market Symposiums at
Macworld Conference & Expo, which happens at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, Calif. from January 8 – 12, 2007.
A new Photoshop Professional Symposium highlights this year’s lineup. It’s geared toward graphic designers and other creative pros, and will be presented by Adobe’s Russell Brown, author Deke McClelland and artist Bert Monroy.
Each Market Symposium is a day-long event that helps small business owners, graphic designers, musicians, K-12 educators, art directors, new media artists and podcasting pros get more from their Macs. The Market Symposiums take place on Wednesday and Friday. The price is $295 if purchased before December 11, 2006.
Also new this year is “Welcome to Macintosh: Dr Mac’s Introduction to the Macintosh Way,” presented by Mac expert Bob Levitus, who will demonstrate how attendees can become more productive with their Macs.
Other symposiums scheduled for the show including a focus on small business owners, running from server management to IT policies; musicians, featuring live demos; educators, offering information on teaching, learning and IT in schools; art directors, providing best practices for the design business; new media, focusing on delivering content for the Web and optical disks; and podcasting, providing market makers and innovators together to discuss opportunities about this new communications medium.
In related news, IDG World Expo has revealed that the Music and Technology Symposium will feature producer COUNT, who has worked with DJ Shadow, Radiohead and others, guitarist Joe Gore, who has worked with Tom Waits and PJ Harvey, producer/composer Walt Szalva of Planet-3 Studios (Neil Young, Paul McCartney), and musician, “circuit-bender” and writer Chachi Jones. The event will be hosted by Peter Kirn of Keyboard magazine.
