Sharpcast on Tuesday announced integration with Apple’s iPhoto software. Sharpcast is an online photo synchronization service that up to now only worked with the Mac through a Web browser. The software is now available for download as a beta version.
The Sharpcsat Photos iPhoto uploader enables Mac users to export iPhoto albums directly from their Macs into their Sharpcast Photos Web albums. Sharpcast can be used as a backup and sharing service for people who take digital photos; the service can automatically synchronize photos between a computer and mobile phone, as well.
Sharpcast calls the iPhoto uploader “the first step toward complete availability of the Sharpcast user experience.” Sharpcast works like a Blackberry, providing a “push”-style synchronization across all devices. A forthcoming product called “ Hummingbird,” expected to be released in the first half of 2007, will continue this integration. Users interested in signing up for the alpha tester program can get more information online.
The Sharpcast Photos iPhoto Uploader requires Mac OS X v10.4 or later and iPhoto 6 and above.
