AssistiveWare, developers of accessibility software for Mac OS X, on Tuesday introduced its new “ConvenienceWare” line of software. The new line debuts with TextParrot 1.0, multilingual text-to-speech software that is priced starting at $39.95.
Developed in collaboration with the Acapela Group, TextParrot features naturally-sounding, high-quality voices and supports one or two languages of your choice: US English, UK English, French, German, Italian, Danish, Dutch, Flemish, Spanish, Portuguese, Norwegian and Swedish. Other languages are coming soon.
A Universal binary, TextParrot lets you listen to your documents; you can create your own personal podcasts or audio books by exporting the audio tracks to iTunes. Or you can just use TextParrot to speak selected text in a reader window.
TextParrot requires Mac OS X v10.4 or later.
