ArcSoft on Tuesday announced the release of PhotoStudio Darkroom 1.5, an updated version of its non-destructive photo processing software for Mac OS and Windows. It costs $99.99, and ArcSoft also does OEM deals with camera makers and others.
PhotoStudio Darkroom enables digital photographers to edit RAW, JPEG and TIFF image files without having to worry about overwriting the original files. it features crop and straighten functions, curves and levels adjustment, lens correction, exposure and white balance adjust and more. PowerPC and Intel-based Macs are supported.
New features in the 1.5 release include double the number of RAW formats supported, and the ability to import directly from cameras or removable drives. Also new is a built-in photo browser, automatic red-eye removal, one-click spot and patch removable, copy and paste recipe and convert RAW to Adobe Digital Negative (DNG) format.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3 or later, G4, G5 or Intel processor, 512MB RAM, 50MB hard disk space, and 800 x 600, 16-bit color display.
