Griffin Technology on Friday announced a new multimedia flash card reader designed to work with MacBook Pros, which feature an ExpressCard/34 expansion slot. The 5-in-1 card reader costs $29.99.
The reader supports Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro, Secure Digital (SD), MultiMediaCard (MMC) and xD-Picture card formats.
The card is “plug-and-play;” no drivers or installation software required. You simply plug it in and your MacBook Pro begins to recognize those cards immediately when they’ve been inserted into the card’s reader. Griffin claims the transfer speed of the card is “comparable to or better” than a USB 2.0-equipped memory card reader.
The card also works with Windows PC laptops that are equipped with ExpressCard/34 and ExpressCard/54 slots.
