Apple’s iTunes Store is updated with new content every Tuesday, and this week among the new television shows and musical recordings, spoken word performances and audiobooks are two new games for fifth-generation iPods: Royal Solitaire and Sudoku. Both are available for $4.99 each.
Sudoku and Royal Solitaire — developed for the iPod by Electronic Arts (EA) — bring the total number of games available for download to 11; they join Bejeweled, Pac-Man, Zuma, Texas Hold’em and other games that are playable on video iPods.
Royal Solitaire includes 10 popular variants on solitaire card games, including Canfield, Klondike, Pyramid, Beleaguered Castle and others. The software lets you track your own personal statistics, as well as those of other players around the world.
Sudoku is a version of the eminently popular numbers placement game. The goal is enter the numbers 1 through 9 in each cell of a 9 x 9 grid made up of three 3 x 3 subgrids. Each row, column and region in the puzzle must contain only one instance of each number.
