Spiderweb Software has announced the release of Avernum 4 v1.1, an updated version of its fantasy role-playing adventure game for the Macintosh. The new version is a Universal binary that runs natively on Intel and PowerPC-based Macs. A free update for registered users, Avernum 4 costs $25.
Avernum 4 is the latest installment of the long-running series that puts you in a subterranean kingdom. Monsters from the lower tunnels have returned, and gigantic beasts are ravaging the cities of Avernum. What’s worse, the people of this underground land have been struck by a strange and inexplicable paranoia.
The game features hundreds of side quests, multitudes of characters and other challenges that promise weeks of entertainment, according to the developer. And previous experience with the Avernum series isn’t necessary.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.1 or later, 50MB RAM, 120MB hard disk space and 1024 x 768 resolution with 16-bit color. A demo is available.
