Sorenson Media has released Sorensen Squeeze 4.5.3, an updated version of its video compression software for Mac OS X and Windows. A free update to the 4.5 release, this version improves video compression and encoding and introduces new features.
Used by video and media pros, Sorenson Squeeze is a video encoding software package that enables you to repurpose video content for the Web, CD or DVD applications.
New to this version of Sorenson Squeeze is an error log feature for batch encoding. Now the software displays the name of any file with an error and error information, while Sorenson Squeeze continues to encode other files in the same batch. The error log can be saved as a text file, which can then be sent to Sorenson Media for troubleshooting if necessary. A 32-character file name limit has been raised to 63 — the maximum QuickTime can accept.
Alpha channels can now be encoded while scaling, and Sorensen Squeeze 4.3 and 4.5 can coexist on the same hard drive. Pops have been eliminated in MP3 audio, more robust filtering is offered in the Noise Reduction feature, and a memory leak has been resolved when encoding using Apple’s H.264.
