Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) hardware maker Garmin International on Friday announced that Garmin Training Center software is now Mac-compatible. Used with Garmin’s Forerunner and Edge series fitness products, the Training Center software helps runners, bicyclists and others record, analyze and store data from their activities.
The Training Center software can help record pace, speed, heart rate and elevation based on time and distance. Users can also categorize data by the type of activity: Walking, running, biking or kayaking.
The Training Center software complements Garmin’s MotionBased.com Web software, which has supported the Mac since March. MotionBased.com translates GPS data into performance analysis, online mapping and route sharing using a Web plug-in that works using Apple’s Safari Web browser.
Garmin said it will distribute free copies of Garmin Training Center on CD at next month’s Macworld Expo, which takes place at the Moscone Center in San Francisco from January 8 – 12, 2007. Look for it online late in January.
