Seagate Technology on Monday announced that its OneTouch III Mini Edition is now Mac-compatible. The drive features integrated automatic backup software. The drive is priced from $129.99, in capacities ranging from 60GB to 160GB.
The drive, part of Seagate’s Maxtor-branded product line, connects using USB 2.0 and is bus-powered, requiring no external power supply. Inside is a drive mechanism operating at 5400RPM, equipped with 8MB cache buffer.
When you plug the drive in, it mounts on your desktop, and after you’ve configured the included software, it will automatically backup and synchronize files. The drive also integrates “Maxtor DriveLock,” embedded firmware that restricts data access if the drive is stolen or lost.
The external chassis is a metallic design equipped with black rubber side panels and non-skid feet, with vibration protection to keep the drive mechanism safe.
Capacities run 80GB, 120GB and 160GB for $129.99, $169.99 and $229.99 respectively.
