CalDigit on Wednesday introduced a new HD storage solution called HD444. The 3Gb/s SATA RAID—formerly named the S2VR Pro—features 450 MB/s speed in a single unit, and is designed to be a quiet desktop drive or convert to become a 19” rack mount.
The aluminum enclosure is designed to help dissipate heat. Drives, fans and power supply are all modular in design for easy replacement and reduced downtime.
This is an eight-drive solution capable of 4:4:4, 10-bit, uncompressed 1080/60i, HD editing with available capacities up to 8TB and speeds of up to 450MB/s. Scalable top speeds of up to 900MB/s are attainable using two units. The HD444 is offered in changeable RAID settings of 0, 1, 10 and JBOD.
The 2TB version retails for $2999, a 4TB version is available for $4500, and 6TB for $6500. Pricing has not been set for an 8TB version.
