Aspyr Media has announced the release of Prey to retailers. Prey is a new first-person shooter licensed for the Mac from 2K Games and originally developed by Human Head Studios. It costs $49.99 and was rated M for Mature by the ESRB.
Prey focuses on the story of Tommy, a disenfranchised Native American garage mechanic who suddenly finds himself on board an alien spaceship as he must free his people and his girlfriend. The incident reawakens his own spiritual ancestry and Tommy — a Cherokee — develops powers like “spirit-walking.” Other innovations in gameplay include wall-walking, portals, and gravity flipping.
System requirements for Prey call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, G5/Intel-based Mac, 1.8GHz or faster, 512MB RAM, 2.5GB hard disk space, ATI Radeon 9600 or Nvidia GeForce 6600 or better 3D graphics with at least 64MB VRAM and DVD Drive. Intel-integrated video chipsets are not supported.
Prey recently won Macworld’s Best of Show award for Macworld Expo.
