Xeric Design on Monday announced the release of EarthDesk 4.0, a new version of their real-time dynamic desktop map for Mac OS X. EarthDesk 4.0 costs $19.95 and upgrades are available for $9.95 or $12.95 depending on your license.
EarthDesk replaces your Mac’s desktop wallpaper with a photorealistic image of the Earth, showing current sun, moon and city illumination, as well as cloud coverage. It operates in the background, displaying changes continuously. It can also operate as a screen saver.
Version 4.0 has been reworked in Apple’s Cocoa development environment, and has been changed from an application to a System Preference pane. An optional system menu icon has been added, and the user interface is now easier to use.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.4 or later.
