Apple on Tuesday announced that the
is now available in five colors; Blue, pink, green, orange and the original silver. The 1GB iPod shuffle costs $79.
“When we designed the new shuffle we entered into a new space of fashion—the idea that you can wear it in your favorite color is a great extension,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide product marketing.
The redesigned iPod shuffle is half a cubic inch in volume, weighs half an ounce and is made of aluminum. It incorporates a built-in clip you can use to attach it to your lapel or pocket, and its 1GB of memory enables it to hold up to 240 songs, according to Apple.
The iPod shuffle’s rechargeable battery lasts for up to 12 hours at a stretch. Connecting the iPod to your Mac or PC, you can use iTunes’ AutoFill feature to automatically load songs from your iTunes library into the iPod shuffle.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later and iTunes 7.0.2 or later, Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4), XP Home or Professional (Service Pack 2) and iTunes 7.0.2 or later, and a USB 2.0 port.
“The iPod shuffle has been an instant hit,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of worldwide iPod product marketing. “They are unbelievably cool.”
