MP3tunes announced Monday the availability of unlimited, free online music storage using its Oboe music locker technology.
MP3tunes.com — founded in 2005 by Michael Robertson, creator of MP3.com and Linspire — is a music service provider that lets you stream your music collection to iTunes and other software, or listen to it on the Internet. It’s compatible with MP3, MP4, AAC, OGG, AIF and other music formats. Using Oboe, you can keep your music backed up to an online music repository and listen to it wherever and whenever you want.
Oboe remains available in either free or premium versions. While the free version provides unlimited storage and streaming capabilities, the premium service enables you to listen to larger music files, listen to them on a broader number of compatible devices, use unrestricted cover art, and provides you with full customer support. Oboe Premium costs $39.95 per year.
Oboe works using Oboe Sync, software that synchronizing the contents of your computer’s music library with your online Oboe Locker. System requirements for Oboe Sync 2.0 call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, a broadband Internet connection and an Oboe Locker subscription.
Also available for free download are an iTunes plug-in, plug-in for Firefox and Software Development Kit (SDK).
