Nikon on Wednesday announced the release of Capture NX 1.1, an update to the software developed for professional photographers. Capture NX is now a Universal binary that runs native on Intel-based Macs. Capture NX costs $149.95, and the 1.1 release is a free update for registered users.
Capture NX is a non-destructive image editing application designed for photographers who use Nikon digital camera equipment. It works using Nikon’s NEF raw image file format, and also supports JPEG and TIFF images. The software features more than two dozen image editing tools, batch processing support and more.
In addition to Universal binary support, new features in this release include a simpler user interface with resizable palettes for histograms, curves and level adjustments.
If you currently use Nikon’s Capture software and you’d like to upgrade to Capture NX, Nikon offers a special $89.95 upgrade.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later and a G4 or better. A 30-day trial version is available for download.
