E-on software on Wednesday announced the release of Vue 6 Infinite, a new version of the software that helps create natural-looking 3D environments. It’s priced starting at $695 for the downloadable, node-locked version; upgrades cost $299.
Vue 6 Infinite features an atmosphere engine that can generate not only sky appearances such as clouds, but variable amounts of dust, humidity and haze that will affect the diffusion of sunlight. It also features realistic-looking plants and terrains, supports compositing, imports and exports to a variety of formats, and more.
New features in Vue 6 Infinite include new “EcoSystem 2” technology that lets you paint instances directly onto objects using a pressure-sensitive tablet; spectral atmospheric effects; SolidGrowth 4 plant technology, sub-surface scattering; ambient occlusion; accurate computation of caustics and optional “spreading” of the light spectrum; as well as glaciation, alluvium and dissolve erosion effects.
Vue 6 Infinite requires Mac OS X v10.3 or later, 2GHz PowerPC or Intel-based Mac, 1GB available RAM, 200MB hard disk space and 1024×768 display.
Vue 6 Infinite is available in English. A Japanese localization is expected soon.
