Namco Networks on Tuesday announced the release of Ms. Pac-Man for the fifth-generation (video) iPod. It’s available for download from the iTunes Store and costs $4.99.
The release coincides with the 25th anniversary of the once-popular video game. Ms. Pac-Man is the companion to the original Pac-Man, which saw its debut when premium iPod games were first released in September, 2006. This marks the second Namco game to be produced for the video iPod.
In Ms. Pac-Man, you navigate the title character around four different mazes as she’s chased by ghosts. Ms. Pac-Man must gobble all the pellets on the screen to proceed to the next level. Specially placed “power pellets” enable her to turn the tables on the ghosts temporarily, allowing her to “chomp” them and send them back home.
The game features 256 maze levels and the “coffee break” animated intervals available in the original coin-op arcade game. What’s more, the iPod version also features arcade game cabinet art and a tutorial level. You can listen to the original game sounds and music while playing.
