Devontechnologies on Tuesday announced the release of Devonthink Pro and Devonthink Pro Office, its document and information managers for Mac OS X. Both are free updates for registered users and cost $79.95 and $149.95 for new licenses, respectively.
Devonthink, available in Personal, Professional and Pro Office variations, is designed to help users achieve a “paperless office” by providing a database for information storage that might otherwise end up in hard copy — PDF files, e-mails, Word documents and multimedia files. It acts as a document repository, filing cabinet and project organizer, and includes the ability to clip date, create documents and cross reference, integrate its database into other applications and more. Devonthink Professional adds more capabilities, such as full support for BibTeX files, Address Book and iData 2 import capabilities, and OmniOutliner export. Devonthink Pro Office adds e-mail archive, scanner support, Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Web search sharing.
New to the 1.3 release of Devonthink Professional Office is French and Danish localization, a keyboard shortcut for the Capture function, and image inspection for documents that are scanned with OCR.
Both versions now feature the ability to scroll PDFs using the mouse and command key; cancel all operations, improved Firefox Web browser support, better reliability for the advertisement filter and more.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later. A 150-hour test drive version is available for download.
