The good news is that the power companies are throwing their hat into the ring. Using Broadband over Power Lines or BPL, they’ll be able to deliver Internet access with speeds in excess of 1 Mbps. That means that electric customers (you do use electricity, right?) will be able to buy access in the future from their power company. With VOIP and TV on the net, who needs the telephone companies or cable providers? Now is the time for them to pounce.
