With Freqtric Drums Live, everyone wears a ring, which is attached by a wire to a control unit. When the drummer (who gets a special ring) makes contact with a participant, a sound is triggered via the unit’s MIDI port. Different rings complete different circuits and trigger different sounds; a bunch of people holding their hands out become a complete drum set.
The Freqtric Drums Home unit (pictured) is a little different, in that there are no rings but each person (including the drummer) holds on to one of the metal bars on the central unit. Aside from necessitating a certain proximity, the Freqtric Drums Home also has knobs for adjusting each sound.
So basically what we have here is a new definition of a human beat box.
