Nintendo DS Lite scavenger hunt

Thanks to Dan’s tipoff, I scouted the local Target and Wal-Marts. The Target in Woburn has a nice big empty shelf where their Nintendo DS systems should be. Naturally, I ask. The clerk gave me a funny look when I asked for the “Nintendo DS Lite”. He walked over to the accessories. I then have to explain that it’s a console, not some little light that works with the Nintendo DS. Once I explained that, he looked at the shelf and told me they didn’t. I tried to hint at looking out back, but no dice. There was no DS Lite.

The next stop to Wal-Mart was just as fruitful. This time though, he tried looking it up on what looked like just the Wal-Mart website. The first search he tried was “Nintendo DS Lights” (as I asked, “do you have any Nintendo DS Lites?”). If I weren’t hovering over his shoulder, I wouldn’t have been able to correct him. He then saw that they weren’t to be released until the 11th (of course). Again, I wanted to push for him to look out back, but that seems like pressing my luck.

My outings were a complete bust. I have no Nintendo DS Lite still and three games sitting on my coffee table mocking me. I’m officially not a fan of this coordinated release date thing. I don’t care if it helps Nintendo to boast abnormally high sales numbers. I just want my DS Lite.
