Personally, I won’t believe the Phantom Lapboard exists until I have one in my very hands (so Phantom, if you’re listening, you know what to do). The former Infinium Labs (now Phantom Entertainment) gave up on their Phantom Console to focus on other projects, such as the lapboard.
Is the lapboard really anything special? To me, it just looks like a fairly average wireless keyboard/mouse combo, albeit it with some nifty features. For example, the keyboard part can swivel upwards, giving you space below on which to use the laser mouse. Also, the keyboard can turn a full 360 degrees to accommodate both left- and right-handed users. The lapboard uses a RF USB receiver to transmit its wireless signals to a computer and it should work with PCs or Macs.
It’s supposed to come out in November for $130, but Phantom is offering a $30 break if you pre-order now. Could be risky, with their history, but maybe, just maybe, it’ll be real.
