Turns out Siemens, maker of mobile phones and dryers the world over, has been working on just such a system. And, with typical German flare, they’ve taken it a step further. Their version actually scans the road for common road signs (such as the speed limit), then alerts you via the heads up display. If you like, the car can even adjust the speed limit itself based on the signs. Boy, does that seem like a disaster waiting to happen. What if you cross from the US to Canada—are you going to end up doing 100 miles per hour in a 100 km/h zone? Try explaining that one to the Mounties.
