That R2 unit is in prime condition, a real bargain
By Dan Moren
Oh, man, I know what I’m getting for Christmas. R2-D2 and the rest of the Star Wars gang turn
next year and it’s almost hard to believe. Still, you can celebrate by going out and snagging yourself an
interactive R2-D2 Astromech Droid from the Sharper Image
for just $120. R2 responds to voice commands and even recognizes the names of other Star Wars characters, like C-3PO, Chewbacca, and Luke Skywalker.
Better yet, R2 has an extendable arm that can hold a drink, so you can always tell him to roll off and grab you a can of beer from the fridge. He’s a little smaller than the original R2 unit, at just 16.5″x 11″x11″, but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have
. R2 runs on 4AA and 4D batteries (who knew?) and operates in three modes: companion, game, and command.
No word on whether or not he comes with concealed Death Star plans, but I’m guessing you’d find out pretty quick.
