The temperature’s rising with Thanko’s Warmer Mouse

Usually it’s a bad sign when electronics start to overheat (especially in the case of laptop batteries). But sometimes it’s not so bad: my MacBook keeps my lap warm during those cold winter nights (not to mention keeping my heating bill down). Thanko’s USB Warmer Mouse II aims to do the same for your hand.

The $23 mouse is a standard two-button USB mouse with a scroll wheel, but beneath its colorful carapace it conceals a deep, dark secret. Flip the heating switch to the “on” position and it’ll warm your hand to a toasty 45° (Celsius, I assume, though the documentation neglects to mention; that’d be 113°F for those of us in the US).

If nothing else, this pointing device would stop my girlfriend from complaining about cold hands when I get up to work in the morning. Of course it’ll only help my right hand. Guess it’s time for that dual mouse set up I’ve always dreamed of.
