DVD Kiosks?: Big-name retailers are feeling the pinch when it comes to DVD sales, so they’re doing what any self-respecting capitalists would: They’re looking for new ways to make money. According to Reuters, the Wal-Marts of the world have been meeting with Hollywood studios to discuss the possibility of offering video downloading kiosks at their stores. The idea is that instead of having to stock every single DVD in the world, stores can load up on new releases and then supplement their offerings with a kiosk that lets you search for older or more-obscure movies, then download and burn them to DVD.
Now I can see a value in that if the studios would allow me to both burn a DVD and download the same movie to my iPod (or other video device) for one not-overly-outrageous fee. But they better not charge me 20 or 30 dollars to burn the same thing that I could buy from Amazon.

Derik’s Thoughts: Apple, it’s time to get on this. Now, before it reaches critical mass.
