Giant Campus has announced that it is rolling out a nationwide program for kids ages 13 to 17 called Weekend Gamerz. It’s a “video game playing camp” that is coming to three dozen college and university locations this June. The program starts at $99.
Focused on playing games, making friends and socializing, Weekend Gamerz will include titles like Warcraft 3, Half-Life 2, Rise of Nations, Age of Mythology and Jedi Knights. Teens can bring their own games or play online titles including Guild Wars, Factions, Nightfall, World of Warcraft, Halo and Medal of Honor. Additionally, Weekend Gamerz will also feature good old fashioned board and card games.
What makes the program special is Expert Strategy Sessions with gaming experts who will guide gamers through gameplay, share tips and tactics, learn how to lose with grace, and more. Gamers will even get outside for a bit to play Capture the Flag or Ultimate Frisbee.
Day programs start at $99 and run on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM and Sundays from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Gamers bring their own lunch, take breaks when they want and feast on provided snacks and drinks. A residential program is also being offered for $269 (that includes meals).
In some locations, the Weekend Gamerz program is also being combined with week or two-week “ Cybercamp ” programs — another offering from Giant Campus.
