Xsilva Systems has announced the beta release of LightSpeed 2.0, a new version of their multiuser point of sale system for Mac OS X. Prices start at $749.
LightSpeed is designed for retailers who want to create a point of sale (POS) system designed around the Macintosh. Built on an OpenBase SQL back end, the software features sales, service, tracking and purchasing tools.
New is Universal binary support for PowerPC and Intel-based Macs. Also new is an iTunes-like browser that lets you look at live previews of products, customer and sales documents, drag-and-drop support to create new documents, “Smart Finds,” and a revamped search engine.
LightSpeed 2.0 features a revamed floating point of sale interface, now with customizable colors and transparencies. The software now lets you generate and maintain a customizable PHP and CSS-based Web e-commerce site, complete with built-in credit card processing.
A 30 day demo version of the new beta release is available for download.
