Michael Tsai has updated his spam utility SpamSieve adding new features and several enhancements. Of particular note in this release, SpamSieve’s detection of image spams and phishing messages has been improved. The update also includes support for the open source email application Mozilla Thunderbird. Other changes in SpamSieve 2.6 are various message analysis improvements to increase the accuracy of the Bayesian filter; AppleScripting the whitelist and blocklist is much more efficient for scripts that access a lot of rules; improved compatibility with pre-release versions of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard; and various changes to the Apple MAil and Entourage plug-ins making them more robust. The free update for registered users can be downloaded from the company’s Web site — SpamSieve costs $30.
