MacSoft on Monday announced plans to publish a Macintosh conversion of Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs, an expansion pack to Age of Empires III. It’s expected to be released this Spring for $29.99.
Age of Empires III is a real time strategy game in which players follow Morgan Black and his descendants as they migrate from Europe to the New World, and westward across the young United States.
The WarChiefs is the first expansion pack to be developed for the popular game — it adds new capabilities such as playable Native American civilizations — where the expansion pack gets its name. Players can play as Iroquois, Sioux and Aztecs, each with unique units and led by the WarChief unit.
A new single player campaign has also been incorporated — 15 new missions in all. There have been enhancements made to European civilizations, an extended gameplay, with features like new random maps in unique locations not featured in the original game, more statistics tracking and new ways to play.
Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs requires the original Age of Empires III to play. It will be available as a Universal binary.
In related news, last week MacSoft posted a playable demo version of Age of Empires III.
