Toom Boom Animation has announced the release of Storyboard Pro. The software costs $799.99.
Storyboarding is a popular way for creatives involved in visual communication — filmmakers, videographers, advertising creatives and others — to visualize how they’re going to shoot their work. A series of panels depicts scenes, outlines rough copies and describe camera shots.
Storyboard Pro is a paperless system that mimics the traditional storyboard process, using a Mac or PC and a graphic tablet. It features a multi-layer drawing engine that lets you use an “onion skinning” technique for creating key poses, a draw behind mode so you can paint behind contour lines, layer merge and flip drawing support.
You can export your storyboards to AAF for integration with Avid or Adobe Premiere-based editing systems, CSV export for spreadsheet integration, import and export with Photoshop, with layer maintenance, PDF support, foreign languages and time code stamping.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.4, G5 or Intel-based Mac, 512MB RAM, 110MB hard disk space, ATI or Nvidia graphics with at least 128MB VRAM, 1280 x 1024 resolution.
