Dutch electronics giant Philips announced plans Friday to acquire iPod accessory maker Digital Lifestyle Outfitters (DLO). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
DLO, based out of Charleston, South Carolina makes iPod cases and accessories such as the Transpod, an FM transmitter for the iPod, and the HomeDock Deluxe, which enables users to navigate the contents of their iPods using their TV and home entertainment system.
Philips said that DLO sold about $100 million in iPod accessories for 2006. The company will become part of Philips’ Consumer Electronics division after the acquisition. Philips said that the transaction is expected to close in the second calendar quarter of 2007, subject to customary regulatory approvals.
