LightScribe is an HP-created technology used by some CD and DVD burners — it enables you to etch designs and text into the tops of specially-treated disc media, saving you from having to apply a sticky label for a custom look. Now HP has released a themed kit especially for preserving wedding memories.
The LightScribe wedding kit includes several different label designs — JPEG images you can use with software that supports LightScribe burners (Roxio’s Toast Titanium and BeLight’s Disc Cover are among the Mac applications that support LightScribe). You can also download a “Simple Labeler” application from the LightScribe Web site, if you have a drive that came with no software.
The designs can also be incorporated into CD or DVD covers, cards, or anything else you’d like to make to accompany the disc.
The company also features kits themed for gifts, music and photography, instructions for how to use digital photos for the LightScribe label, and an online Disc Sleeve Designer you can use to create and print out your own disc sleeve designs.
