WiebeTech on Wednesday introduced Mouse Jiggler, a USB device designed to keep a computer from entering sleep or screensaver mode. It costs $29.95.
The Mouse Jiggler comes in two forms: the MJ-1, which uses small, almost imperceptible motions so you can continue to work on your computer without having to remove it, or the MJ-2, which uses larger, jerkier motions to show at a glance that it’s working.
WiebeTech expects the Mouse Jiggler to appeal to forensics pros who want to disable screen saver passwords and dialog boxes on seized computers, users who need to download a large file or run a large software installation or backup without having to worry that their equipment will fall asleep, and others.
No software or drivers are required — Mouse Jiggler registers as a Human Interface Device (HID). A single LED counts off the number of minutes that the Mouse Jiggler has been working.
