WebAssist.com has released eCart 4, a new version of their e-commerce software created for Web page developers who work with Dreamweaver. It costs $299.99.
eCart 4.0 is a visual e-commerce site creator that enables you to generate everything you need to process online transactions, from data entry to order receipt. The software supports five languages — English, French, German, Spanish and Dutch — and provides support for a variety of payment gateways including PayPal and Authorize.Net.
A highly sought-after feature requested by Mac users has been integrated into this version: eCart 4’s preview engine now automatically updates with each change you make.
“We didn’t have support for that in the previous version on the Mac. It now works, and we’ll be rolling that across all of our products in future releases,” said Eric Ott, WebAssist.com’s president.
eCart 4 works with the new Dreamweaver CS3 as well as past versions down to Dreamweaver MX 2004. It integrates with Application Server models like ASP JavaScript and ASP VBScript, PHP 4.2 and Coldfusion, and it works with Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL 4 and 5. Shopping cart layouts have been certified by CSS expert Eric Meyer. The shopping carts also now dynamically display any charges, discounts or taxes as needed.
The new version, eCart 4, is now easier to use, with a one step Checkout Wizard that helps users add state or country tax rules and shipping charges, using real-time quotes from major couriers including FedEx, UPS, DHL, the U.S. Postal Service and Australia Post. It also handles order management and, using an optional module, e-mail confirmation.
System requirements call for a G3/500MHz or faster, Mac OS X v10.1 or later, 128MB RAM, Dreamweaver MX 2004, Dreamweaver 8 or Dreamweaver CS3.
