Elgato Systems has released EyeTV 2.4, an updated version of their DVR software for Mac OS X. The new version, a free update for 2.x users, adds one-click export for Apple TV.
EyeTV is bundled with Elgato’s own EyeTV-branded Digital Video Recorder (DVR) devices for the Macintosh, and has also been licensed by other companies for use with their own DVR devices. It provides controls for tuning in television signals on your Mac and recording that content to your hard disk, as well as exporting it to other formats.
With this release, a new export format has been identified that optimizes the video export specifically for the Apple TV. The export can also be automated as part of the recording schedule.
Other enhancements to version 2.4 include support for satellite television services using TitanTV, the U.S.-bound channel information service used by EyeTV; Spanish and Italian language localizations, and enhancements to the Program Guide, including a progress bar that tracks Program Guide updates.
Tiger “Spotlight” search support is now available; that lets users locate EyeTV recordings using part of the title or description of the content. And users of Macs equipped with multiple monitors can now specify which display they want to use in Full Screen mode. Bug fixes have also been made.
