GizMac on Thursday announced that it’s shipping its 6U XRackPro2 — a $749.99 server rack enclosure that works with Apple’s Xserve and Xserve RAID or other devices designed to fit into a standard 19-inch equipment rack. It provides 6U of vertical storage capability with 32 inches of depth.
The new 6U XRackPro2 joins other units ranging in size from 4U to 25U. Designed for environments where noise is an issue, such as audio and video film editing and post production, the XRackPro2 is a self-contained server storage system on casters, making it portable and closed (the front of the unit has a door). GizMac claims the XRackPro2 can reduce server noise by up to 80 percent.
GizMac makes the 6U XRackPro2 in either black or platinum finishes. The XRackPro2 is made of steel and uses a sealed glass door. Each 1U of vertical space is clearly marked. Eight cage nuts and screws are included to help secure a server and disk arrays.
